BOATER’S BOWDITCH
by Richard K. Hubbard
For almost 200 years, the American Practical Navigator, commonly known as "Bowditch", has served as the pre-eminent reference for professional, commercial, and naval navigators. When yacht captain and navigation instructor Richard Hubbard was editing the 800 page 1995 edition of "Bowditch" for the Navy, he was inspired with the idea of creating a more compact version designed especially for recreational sailing. Such a book would present most practical techniques of the original, but without unduly coplex technical discussions of theory and science. His idea has come to life in this new book, written in plain English, and which puts the emphasis on graphic and visual techniques of navigation for the non-professional sailor. Hundreds of diagrams and photographs, including 100 color illustrations, make this book a pleasure to use. It covers the traditional skills of celestial navigation, as well as all the modern methods, such as using GPS and electronic charts. SC, 2000, 404 pages, 332 Illustrations. SW 2.0 lbs.
