WINDSCRIBE
Davis Instruments
No moving parts -Can you imagine a windmeter with no moving parts? With nothing to wear out or break, it is sensitive to breezes as low as 0.1 mph, yet withstands winds as high as 99 mph. It is compact and light weight. It also provides temperature and wind chill readings.
Here’s how it works. It uses the doppler effect to measure the frequency change in ultrasonic signals as they are affected by the air moving through the barrel mounted on top of the unit. Of course, its all done with a computer chip.
Easy to use – just point the WindScribe into the wind. One direction for headwind, the other direction for tailwind. It has a large, easy to read LCD, with a HOLD feature to capture the reading. It is always ready to go, with nothing to unfold, or unpack.
Three ways to use – Handheld with adjustable wrist lanyard (included), on a tripod with standard tripod thread which is ideal for track and field, with the included velcro strap for attaching to handlebar or strut.
Specifications: Water resistant. Readings are given for current wind speed, maximum windspeed, and a running average. Readings can be in mph, fpm, fps, km/h, m/s, kts. Temperature and wind chill readings are given in tenths of degrees in °F or °C., and are displayed as current, maximum, and minimum. Power is from a replaceable Lithium button battery which gives up to 300 hours of use. A low battery indicator alerts you to an impending requirement. Comes with: 3 volt lithium button battery, adjustable wrist lanyard, mounting bracket, velcro strap.
